The OLPH Football 60 year anniversary “Outback Bowl” was a very special event. Over 400 people were in attendance to watch the OLPH football team play against Knox Catholic. Players from the OLPH inaugural 1948 team took part in a pinning ceremony, which included stories from the humorous to the emotional. The OLPH Rams finished second place in the ISC with an overall record of 13-3. Thank you to Hamilton Place Outback Steakhouse and the parents who made this event so terrific. Thank you to the OLPH coaches for their dedication!
OLPH School will be hosting Jim Williams, a highly effective speaker who uses personal stories to reach his audiences on Wednesday, November 5 at 6:30 pm in the OLPH School gym. Jim will speak on “Strengthening Families” which will give parents insight and suggestions on how to raise responsible, accountable, dependable children who are resilient and capable of handling disappointments. All OLPH Parish families and the Chattanooga Catholic Community are invited to attend this session. Childcare will be provided in the OLPH School cafeteria. Mr. Williams will also address the issue of “Bullying with Adolescents” with the OLPH School 6th and 7th grade classes on Thursday, November 6.
OLPH FOOD DRIVE: Please help the 3rd grade Brownie troupe gather food for the OLPH Church food pantry and Ladies of Charity. The food theme for November is “lunch items” – canned soup, tuna fish, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti, canned fruit, etc. Boxes are located in the entryway of each school building. Different food themes will be announced each month. Also, a reminder that OLPH Church “Good Samaritan” food drive is the first Sunday of every month. Thank you for your support! OLPH Brownie Troop 14 is collecting old blankets and old towels for the Humane Society as a service project. Please bring in your old blankets and towels and place them in the collection box by the main entrance to the school building (near the archway). Collections will continue until November 14, 2008. Please help us keep our furry friends warm and dry this winter season.
