The virtue for the month of September is "goodness" (in all we do). Goodness is the desire to do good and to be good; this should always be at the front of a faithful Christian's mind. We know that Jesus came to forgive us and give us eternal life. We show our thanks for this gift in the good we do. The virtue for the month of October is "peace" (to calm my fear). "Peace; be still," Jesus said to the stormy sea. The waves, and the disciples in the boat, were instantly calmed, that feeling of calm is freedom from upsetting thoughts or feelings.

OLPH BAND--It's not too late to enroll in band class. Band class meets on Monday and Wednesday during the school day and does not interfere with after school activities or sports. Your student can learn to play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, or bells. Music teaches discipline and teamwork, and studies have shown that learning music increases overall brain power. Most band students receive scholarship assistance when they go to college. To join the band, see Mr. Harmon in the band room, or contact him at harmont@myndhs.com. You may also leave voice mail at 423-443-4710.
