THANKSGIVING BLESSINGS--OLPH School is very "THANKFUL" for the continued support and prayers from the OLPH parishioners and families. Your commitment to Catholic Education and gifts of time, talent, and treasure that you share with the students, faculty and staff of OLPH School are appreciated and a blessing to us all.
School Closing Due to Inclement Weather or Illness: In the event of inclement weather, parents/guardians will be notified through Parent Alert, the OLPH website, and local TV stations regarding the closing of school. All local network television stations will be called as early as possible to indicate the closing of the school. Please note that most television stations will not put school openings on the air. If you do not see OLPH listed as closed, we will be open. This procedure also pertains to OLPH School closing due to illnesses, i.e. flu.
THE GIVING TREE--As in years past, OLPH School, in conjunction with Catholic Charities, has "adopted" families needing assistance during the Christmas season. Last year's "Giving Tree" was a great success. This year OLPH School will provide for eight families in need, including those affected by recent flooding, parents who have lost their jobs, and grandparents raising their grandchildren on a fixed income. The Giving Trees will be set up in the main school building, school library, and 7th/8th grade building. The trees will be decorated with paper ornaments with the wanted/needed items written on them. After selecting an ornament and purchasing the item, please send the unwrapped gift to the student's homeroom teacher with the ornament attached by Monday, December 14th. Please look for the flyer sent home with students for additional information. If you have questions, please contact Kim Thomas or Tracie Mertel. Thank you for sharing your Christmas.
EVENING WITH SANTA will be on Friday, December 4, 2009 @ 7:00 PM in the OLPH School Gym. Evening with Santa is a parish wide family event sponsored by the OLPH Home and School Association. We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the OLPH church pantry, however there is no charge to attend. Evening with Santa will follow the 5:30 PM Mass and the monthly Knights of Columbus Fish Fry (also serving chicken fingers) in the Parish Life Center. Ornaments made with a photo of you and Santa will be available to purchase for $2.00 each. If you would like to volunteer please go to http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/38-640268238103.
