We follow Jesus' example of the Good Samaritan as we treat our neighbors and friends with gentleness. St. Paul tells us in Galatians 5:22-23 to let the Holy Spirit direct our lives. Mary, the Mother of Jesus, lived her life following the fruits of the Holy Spirit thus allowing the Spirit to direct her life.

FIELD DAY INFORMATION: Field Day is Tuesday, May 25. The day will begin with all-school Mass. The Field Day activities will begin after Mass, at approximately 9:15, and continue until Noon. Tickets will be pre-ordered for concession items (drinks, popcorn, candy--each item is $1.00--tickets are ordered through the homeroom teacher). Students will return to their homeroom for lunch; no hot lunch is being served. Relay races will start at 1:00 on the football field. Students will return to their homeroom around 2:00 for awards (to be held in classrooms). Uniform for Field Day is PE uniform for grades 3rd-7th, and 1st and 2nd wears an OLPH t-shirt and shorts. All students wear tennis shoes. Remember your sunscreen! FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Parents/Guardians, Coach Close needs volunteers to help with Field Day on Tuesday, May 25. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OLPH SPRING SPORTS TEAMS! The OLPH Rams Tennis Team finished second in the conference.The OLPH Rams Golf Team finished third, with Alexander Riddle having the lowest average in the conference--Congratulations! "Good job" also to the Track and Baseball teams who showed favorably on the playing field.

A VERY SPECIAL "GRACIAS" TO OUR SPANISH VOLUNTEERS! A heartfelt "Thank You" to the many people who kept Spanish alive at OLPH this year. Laura Moore, Arcelia Camacho, Maria Dolores Flores, Blanca Rios, Norma Neri, Angela Hodges, Monica Mohler, Forrest Mohler, Ivette Palacios, Veronica Rivas, and Raquel Riesco spent numerous hours working with the students in grades Kindergarten through eighth. SISTERS OF CHARITY, B.V.M. CHRISTIAN LIVING AWARD: Over the past eight years we have honored the Sisters of Charity by identifying those students from each grade who exemplify the mission and core values of the Sisters of Charity. In accordance with the Mission of the Sisters of Charity, B.V.M., the students chosen to receive this award show faithfulness and love of God to those in the community and to all of God's people. They use the gifts of freedom, education, charity and justice in their daily virtuous lives. The Sisters will receive a list of names and a picture of the students receiving the award each year. SCRIP/TRIP ORDERS: For all of you who have been placing orders for Scrip cards throughout the year, your rewards are just around the corner! The last day to place a Scrip order this school year will be May 18; those cards will be delivered on May 21, along with a statement of the TRIP money you have earned for the year. The total of your earnings will then be deducted from your tuition bill. The new billing amount will be submitted to FACTS, if you make monthly payments, or reflected in the amount due if you pay in full. NATURE'S PLACE GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY: On Thursday, May 13th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to commemorate "Nature's Place at OLPH", the outdoor classroom being created on the OLPH School campus. The Chattanooga Times-Free Press was on hand, as well as the 8th grade students, whose pre-algebra class developed the idea of the classroom. Nature's Place will provide an invaluable chance to develop multiple skills while enjoying engaged learning. As children explore the rich opportunities provided by well-designed outdoor classrooms, they can view the world from multiple perspectives.

St. Cecilia's Closet has OLPH shorts and skorts, and other warm weather attire for purchase. St. Cecilia's Closet is open Monday through Friday, 7:45 to 3:30.

LIFETOUCH PICTURE PACKAGES were sent home with the students. Parents wanting to purchase the pictures need to pay for them by Friday, May 14th. Please send your payment (check made payable to "Lifetouch") to your child's homeroom teacher. If you do not want to purchase the pictures they must be returned to the homeroom teacher by Friday, May 14th. There will not be retakes made; therefore, if you are not pleased with the pictures, simply return them to your homeroom teacher. SCRIP/TRIP ORDERS: For all of you who have been placing orders for Scrip cards throughout the year, your rewards are just around the corner! The last day to place a Scrip order this school year will be May 18; those cards will be delivered on May 21, along with a statement of the TRIP money you have earned for the year. The total of your earnings will then be deducted from your tuition bill. The new billing amount will be submitted to FACTS, if you make monthly payments, or reflected in the amount due if you pay in full. GHANA MEDICAL MISSION: Fr. John Appiah invites you to help support the Ghana Medical Mission. Join us at St. Stephen's Parish Hall on Saturday, May 15, for a dinner at 7 P.M. with live music (JB and the Honey Beans) from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. Cost is $25/couple and $15/single. SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION

Football Camp: The OLPH Football Coaching Staff will conduct this camp at OLPH School:
  • Description: The camp features comprehensive football instruction with an emphasis on fundamentals. All aspects (offense/defense/special teams) will be covered. Specialty clinics for running backs, quarterbacks, receivers, lineman and linebackers will be conducted, as well as instruction on proper conditioning and nutrition. Coach Billy Dearing (Defensive Coordinator) and Coach Bucky Dearing (Offensive Coordinator) will be assisted by Michael Blake (Coach-Y Rams), Robert Kidwell (Line), Drew Adkins and BJ Coleman (Quarterbacks), and Patrick Flynn (Linebackers).
  • Ages: Rising 3rd-8th graders

  • Requirements: gym shorts, shirt and football cleats. A camp t-shirt will be provided.

Web Design & Movie Making: Mrs. Teresa Hale will conduct this camp at Notre Dame High School :
  • Description: Participants will gain general knowledge of how to create and publish a website using Web Workshop Pro. Aspiring webmasters will learn how to think about the purpose, function, content, and navigability of their website. At he end of the week, their websites will be published on the web for a world-wide audience to see! Campers will also learn how to create, edit, and share their own movie masterpiece using Windows Movie Maker. Students of all technical abilities will find this camp engaging and fun.

Stepping Up to Kindergarten: Mrs. Karen Carden and Mrs. Vickie Stovall will conduct this camp at OLPH School:
  • Description: Is your child ready for kindergarten? Get a head start with this "Stepping-Up" camp. Children will enjoy crafts, language arts, math, science, social studies and have fun while learning. This camp will provide many hands-on classroom experiences as an introduction to the kindergarten environment. The children will enjoy recess and snack too. Who could imagine that school could be this much fun!

Music and More Camp: Mrs. Angie Carson will conduct this "Making Music at OLPH" at OLPH School
  • Description: This fun-filled music camp will focus on learning to identify instruments and, we will be making our own instruments out of simple household items. We will also be learning basic music terms, playing music games, and more. If you want to put more music in your life, come on over to the music room in Madonna Hall, and see what we have to offer. Drinks and snacks will be offered.

  • Description: Girls will learn the basics of volleyball and improve their playing skills while learning to play as a team and having positions. The camp will also include conditioning and the names of plays and positions, parts of the court, procedures as well as the rules, and sportsmanship.
