Please attend Mass this weekend with your Parish Priest. "The Lord said to Moses: "Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them: This is how you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them: The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace! So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them."-- Numbers 6
The virtue for the month of January is Peace (to calm my fear). "Peace; be still," Jesus said to the stormy sea. The waves and the disciples in the boat were instantly calmed; that calmness is freedom from upsetting thoughts or feelings." Theme Mass: Friday, January 28.

SCHOOL INFORMATION: Winter outerwear, Christmas Break, Report Cards, Inclement Weather, Scrip cards
· Winter has arrived-please be sure your student(s) comes to school with proper outerwear, especially those in the younger grades that go outside for recess. Be sure all school uniform items (including lunch boxes, back packs and shoes) are labeled with your student(s) name; in the event the item ends up in Lost and Found, we can return them to their owner.

· School closing due to inclement weather--In the event of delays or closings due to inclement weather, parents/guardians will be notified through Parent Alert, the OLPH website, ParentsWeb announcements, and local TV stations. It is sometimes difficult to "get through" to the local stations, so please be aware that Parent Alert is the most accurate and expedient method of contacting OLPH parents/guardians. If you have a "missed call" on your cell phone from OLPH School, please listen to your voicemail before calling the school.
· OLPH School is now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year. If you would like to receive an application packet or schedule a tour, please contact Teresa Hennen, Director of Admissions, at 423-622-1481, or email Teresahennen@catholicweb.com

Special thanks to our drivers, Beth Cromer, Mark Simpson, Gage Johnson, Ricky Ballard, Sr., Kyle Hutton, and Ryan Stolpmann. MAKUS is an organization dedicated to driver/passenger safety. MAKUS began in 2001 shortly after an automobile accident claimed the life of Michael Appleby. Michael Appleby had graduated from OLPH School just five months prior to the accident. Michael was not wearing his seatbelt. More information concerning MAKUS is available at www.makus.org
· Baseball Camp at NDHS: Notre Dame High School Pitching Coach George Oleksik is hosting a Baseball Camp over Christmas Break. The camp will be held at NDHS December 28-30 for boys in grades 1st-8th, from 9:00 A.M. to Noon. The cost is $50 per student. Participants will receive professional instruction on the fundamentals of the game and improve their baseball skills through a wide variety of fun drills and games. The focus will be on proper throwing, fielding, hitting and pitching mechanics. Participants will receive individual and small group instruction; they are to bring baseball glove, tennis shoes, and cleats; bat is optional. The camp will be held outside as much as possible; however, Coach Oleksik has access to two gyms, indoor hitting cages, and pitching mounds at NDHS, so the camp will be held regardless of weather. Registration forms were sent home with all boys in grades 1st-8th. Forms and payment are to be mailed to George Oleksik, C/O NDHS, 2701 Vermont Ave., Chattanooga, TN, 37404, by December 15th.

Participants will be introduced to proper warm-up, speed-agility training, and Olympic weightlifting technique. The focus of the workouts will be improving the speed, explosiveness, and the athleticism of the participants. There is no charge for this training. Please call Coach Eaves at 865-335-5757 if you are interested in Irish Weightlifting.
