Makers
Club--OLPH Makers Club will begin the last program of the year on Tuesday.
It is open to any student 4th grade to 8th grade on a
first come, first serve basis. Meetings will be held each Tuesday from 3:30
until 5:00 for the remainder of the school year. The Club will be studying
video game design and programming; the students will design and administer a
Minecraft server. The goals include level design, load balancing, and chat and
player management. These goals will give the young people the experience of
running a video game company while providing a service to the other young
people in the school allowing them a chance to play on a safe and student
maintained server. Chat logs will be monitored by adults each night. A
Minecraft account will be required for online play. There is a $30 fee if the
account is purchased through Makers Club; or, you can purchase an account
directly for a small savings through Minecraft.net. There is no additional cost
other than for the Minecraft account. If you already have an account or you don't
want to play you can attend for free. Students just wishing to play can log on
with either the PC or Mac version of the game at 173.247.26.55. Sorry, no
IPhone/I pad/Android play--you have to use a real computer. Parents can watch
