VIRTUS is a program for protection of children and youth and is mandated by the Diocese of Knoxville for all adults volunteering or working with children. This includes substitute teachers, coaches, classroom volunteers and boy/girl scout leaders, chaperones on field trips. Registration is done online at www.virtus.org . Once on the website, click on registration, then scroll to Knoxville Diocese and click on it to find Our  Lady of Perpetual Help and register.

·         Campus Work Day--Saturday, August 24 from 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

·         OLPH School will be postponing the August 17 work day to Saturday, August 24 from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.


STUDENT NEWS: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Yearbook sale, Afterschool band
·         Girl Scout sign-up will be held on August 26, 2013, 6:00 P.M., school cafeteria.  It is for girls, kindergarten through the 3rd grade.  Come and enjoy the ice cream social.
·         Let's play in the Band at OLPH - We offer beginning and advanced band classes after school at OLPH starting in 5th grade. Contact Mr. McIntosh at mcintoshj@myndhs365.com. 
·         All boys who are interested in joining the Cub Scouts (1st through 5th grades), or the Boy Scouts (6th grade and up), should come to our annual Sign-Up Night on Wednesday, August 21st, at 6:30 P.M. in the Parish Life Center.  Scout Leaders will be on hand with applications and will answer any questions you might have about the Scouting program at OLPH.  If you have any questions in advance, call Bill West at (423)899-4061.
·         There are thirteen, 2012-2013 yearbooks left to sell.  If you are interested in purchasing one, please see Mrs. Evans.  The cost is $35 and it is on a "first come first serve" basis.  Once these 13 are gone there will not be anymore.

·         Volleyball season is beginning with their first game on Monday, August 19, 2013, 4:30 P.M., JV-4:30 P.M., V-5:30 P.M.
·         The volleyball game scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st has been rescheduled for September 10th, JV-4:30 P.M., V-5:30 P.M.
·         Do not forget that the deadline for fall sports sign-up is Monday, August 19th.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES:
ALLERGY AWARENESS:  WE HAVE SEVERAL CHILDREN IN OUR SCHOOL WHO HAVE SEVERE ALLERGIES TO PEANUTS AND/OR OTHER NUT PRODUCTS.  WE ASK THAT NO SNACKS CONTAINING NUTS OR NUT BY-PRODUCTS BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.  IF A STUDENT BRINGS A LUNCH WITH NUTS (EG. PEANUT BUTTER, COOKIES, ETC.) HE/SHE MUST SIT AT THE DESIGNATED TABLE WHICH IS CLOSELY MONITORED AND CLEANED BY THE TEACHERS.  WE ALSO, ASK  THOSE STUDENTS TO THOROUGHLY WASH THEIR HANDS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY FINISH THEIR LUNCHES.  IF YOUR CHILD HAS ALLERGIES WHICH NEED TO BE MONITORED AT SCHOOL, AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN TOLD ABOUT THEM, PLEASE NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY.
