SCHOOL NEWS: Ram Run, Oktoberfest, ChattiGras, Box Top Contest, Lifetouch Pictures, Facebook, Home and School Meeting, Garage Sale
·         Save the date, Saturday, October 19th for the Oktoberfest Ram Run!!!  The 5K will begin at 8 A.M and the 1 mile Family Fun Run/Walk will begin at 8:05 A.M. in front of the First Tennessee Pavilion.  Registration forms will be sent home with OLPH students and extra forms will be in the back of the church.  If you want to check out the course or register online, you can do that NOW by going to www.oktoberfestramrun.com.  After the races, don't forget you can stroll through the Chattanooga Market looking for special treats and handcrafted goods!  
·         OLPH School will also be staffing a bratwurst booth at the Chattanooga Market all day Saturday and Sunday, so please find our booth and treat yourself to the BEST brat at the fest!  This is our school's biggest fundraiser, and we really hope that you will be there!!!  If you have any questions, need more information or can volunteer to help at the Brat Booth go to http://vols.pt/aCAhLK or contact Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com or 622-1481. While we would much prefer that you join us that day, you may also help out by donating Coke products. There is a place to sign up on the same VolunteerSpot event on Monday of the same week.

·         ChattiGras 2014, a Chattanooga-style Mardi Gras celebration sponsored by our Catholic Schools, will be held on Saturday, February 15th at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center.  Please save the date.  If you have an item for the Silent Auction please, contact Cissy West: cwest@catholicweb.com.
·         We are excited to announce that every month there will be a Pizza Party for the class of the month. This month it is going to be based on the class that collects the most box tops.  Your box tops will be collected at the end of September, and the class with the largest percentage will have a pizza party sponsored by Hungry Howie's.  The 1st party will be on October 8th.  Deadline for box tops is September 30th.
·         The proofs from Lifetouch will be coming home this week with your child.  The orders are due on October 4th.  You do not have to return the proofs if you do not place an order.
·         If you are on Facebook, and would like to be included in the OLPH Parent and faculty Facebook group, please contact Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com and she can send you an invitation.  The group is set to "secret", so it is not searchable.  You must receive an invitation and be approved to enter the group.  If your Facebook name is very different than the name you have registered with the school, please include that information in your email. Other parents who are already in the group can also invite, but you will still need to be approved.
·          Please mark your calendars for an exciting Home and School meeting on Wednesday, October 9th.  We will have Scott Barker with the FBI coming to speak on internet safety.  The class with the most parent participation will receive bonus box tops to go toward the competition for the party at the end of the year.
·         Parents, while doing your fall cleaning, please consider donating your unwanted bric-a-brac, gently used items, and no longer worn clean clothing to the 8th grade garage sale.  This year's event is Saturday, November 9th and all the proceeds will go toward the class trip to Washington.  For more information call Audrey at (706)937-2717.

SPORTS NEWS: Volleyball, Football, Cross Country and Soccer

·         Volleyball tournament, September 30 - October 2.  Times to be announced.  Come cheer on the Rams!
·         Come show your school spirit for, The "Catholic Rams" this Saturday, September 28th at 11:00 A.M. @ OLPH as they take on Normal Park in Choo Choo Bowl XXII.  Come join in on the fun.  There will be face painting and a spacewalk. GO RAMS!
·         Megaphones/Popcorn Holders - Do not miss your chance to purchase and show your Ram Spirit for all the Ram teams. A limited quantity is still available for purchase for $5.  If you would like to purchase for your student, please stop by Madonna Hall, Pre-K (Jessica Heffren) or purchase at the concession stand at the remaining football games.  Megaphones purchasers are entitled to unlimited popcorn at the two remaining home games.
·         The cross country team will have their last meet Monday, September 30th at 4:15 P.M. @ Woodland Park Baptist Church.  ON YOUR MARK… GET SET…GO!!!
·         To all soccer players, September 30th will be the first soccer practice.  At 5:00 P.M. there will a short meeting with parents about the season.

Items may be placed in (or near) the pass-through from the cafeteria to the kitchen.  Please direct questions (and offers of assistance) to Mrs. Curtiss in the cafeteria.

·         Ladies Bible Study will resume on Wednesday, October 2nd at 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. in Holy Family Hall with The Great Adventure Timeline Bible Study and DVD series by Jeff Cavins.  Join us as we journey through the Bible and apply the riches of scripture to our daily lives during this 8 week session.  A workbook may be purchased for $18.  Contact Cathy Oliver at; catherineoliver@optilink.us or 706-264-6966 to register.  Nursery available upon request.

                                              SPORTS NEWS: Volleyball, Football and Cross Country

·         The volleyball girls have really improved since the start of the season through hard work and determination.  We lost to St. Jude but, played 2 really good games.  Both JV and V won against TCPS yesterday.  Way to go girls.

·         Come cheer on the The "Catholic Rams" this Saturday, September 21st at 11:00 A.M. @ OLPH as they take on Normal Park.  Come join in on the fun.  There will be face painting and a spacewalk. GO RAMS!  The Rams came up short against Chattanooga Christian 28-22 in a thrilling, hard-fought game.  Alex Spraker again led the offense.  Hogan Walker and Sam Stovall led the defense.  The U12 Rams defeated McCallie in double overtime.  The Rams scored the winning touchdown on a TJ McGhee to John Hillman pass.  The U10 Rams continue unbeaten after defeating Hixson last week.  Bennet Brinson scored two touchdowns, and Maverick Tucker anchored the line.  The U8 Rams have won two games to improve to 2-0.  Christian Kidwell and Ross Norman helped lead the team.  It has been a great football season thus far, and the teams' thank all for their support.

·         The cross country team has completed 2 meets.  The Elementary team consisting of 3-5 grade boys and girls and they run 1 mile while the Middle School team, 6-8 grade boys and girls, run a 2 mile course.  We have a runner in the top 20 for each group.  Will Bordash and Hannah Ingle lead the Middle School teams and Kassidy Barta and Tristan Mroz lead our Elementary teams.  With 2 meets to go all runners will continue to post great times.

                                              SPORTS NEWS: Volleyball and Football

·         "If Volleyball were easy it would be called football."  Good job to all the volleyball players for their hard work this season.  They are doing a great job!!!     

·         The "Catholic" Rams improved to 2-1 with a thrilling 20-18 victory over Grace Baptist.  Mikel Lingrosso, Curtis Dearing, Alex Spraker and Sam Stovall were standouts.  The Rams play Chattanooga Christian next Thursday and then face Normal Park on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00 A.M.  All are especially encouraged to attend the Saturday game as there will be a space jump for the kids, face painting, etc.  Members of various OLPH teams will be introduced.  Come out and show your school spirit.

·         The OLPH Cheerleaders are selling megaphone/popcorn holders.  Order your megaphones for the Pep Rally on Tuesday, September 24th.  Order forms will be sent home with your child.
