SCHOOL NEWS: Tuition Support Announcement, OLPH Boy Scouts, Ladies Bible Study, and Catholic Charities Annual Dinner

Tuition Support Announcement:  The deadline for 2nd round distribution of funds for Tuition Support for the 2014-2015, school term will be March 13, 2014.  Applications and appropriate documents must be received by the end of the day March 13th.  Contact Therese Hughes at (423) 624-4618 ext. 1026. (There was a correction made to the date). 

Congratulations to OLPH Boy Scout Troop #115 who participated in the Ocoee District Camporee on February 22nd.  Our Scouts won the Canoe Challenge and the Second Best Overall Troop award for exhibiting teamwork and good attitude during the events.  Our scouts included current students, Will Bordash and Ryan Signiski, and alumni Anthony Smith, James West and Anthony Mathis.

Ladies Bible Study will resume on Ash Wednesday, March 5th with, "Living the Eucharist."  This is a six week study  that will prepare us for each up-coming  Sunday during Lent.  Join us as we use the Liturgy to focus on the Eucharist and enrich our Lenten journey.  Meet in Holy Family Hall from 10-11:30 A.M.  Nursery will be available on request.  Contact Cathy Oliver (706)264-6966 or catherineoliver@optilink.us.

Catholic Charities of East Tennessee's 32nd Annual Dinner will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Chattanooga Hotel.  Please join us in honoring Memorial Hospital for all the support they have provided to Catholic Charities over the years.  Master of Ceremonies will be Chattanooga radio and television talk show celebrity Jed Mescon.  For more information contact Christine Willingham at 423-267-1297 or christine@ccetn.org.
                                                            Sports News:
There will be a parent meeting for those that are interested in running on the 3rd-5th grade track team.  The meeting will be on March 10th at 3:15 P.M. in Mrs. Ingle's room.  We will have all the information for the season and there will be papers to be filled out.  Please make plans to attend.
Congratulations to the VB and VG Basketball teams they placed 3rd in the tournament. Way to go!! What a season!
The OLPH Football clinic is set for June 9 - 13 (9am-12pm). The camp provides fundamental and advanced football techniques, conditioning, and nutrition and is open to all boys ages 8-14.  Campers are separated based on age and skill levels.  A camp T-shirt and daily snack are provided.  Registration forms will be available in the school office. The cost for the clinic is $75.00.
If you are participating in Jump Rope for Heart the money is due on March 14th.  We do have more forms in the office if you are still interested in participating.

Friday, February 28th at Pump It Up!  All, 6th - 8th graders from every Catholic Church and school are invited.  Forms can be found at the back of the church or in the school office.  The cost is $20.00 which includes pizza, fun, and all night with your friends.

Please mark your calendars to attend the next Home and School meeting at 6:00 P.M. on February 26, 2014.  The meeting will be held in the school gym.  The quest speaker is Julie Bumgardner with First Things First.  Mrs. Fox will also speak for a few minutes in regards to how the new Common Core standards apply to OLPH. The class that has the highest percentage of parents attending will have a Hungry Howie pizza party!

Scrip Sunday Sales: Gift Cards will be available after the Masses on February 22-23.  Please consider placing an order (using a form in the back of the church) or purchasing gift cards from the inventory from this ongoing fundraiser for OLPH School.  Whether you buy from inventory, or place an order, a percentage of every sale goes back to the school.  Thank you for your support.

The 5G basketball tournament will begin on February 24th at St. Jude.  The 5B basketball tournament will begin on February 24th at Chattanooga Christian.  Both varsity teams will begin their tournament on February 24th at Belvoir Christian Academy.  Times will be announced.

There is a Knights of Columbus free throw contest at OLPH on Saturday, February 22nd at 3:00 P.M. 

Tennis Fun Day will be on Sunday, February 23rd at the McCallie outdoor courts.  Any 5th - 8th grade student that would like to play on the OLPH Rams tennis team are welcome to join in on the fun from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.  Please park in the lower parking lot below the courts, not on the street above the courts.

Thank you for your support of our online auction to support Chattanooga Catholic Schools.  If you were the winning bidder on an item, you can pick it up at the school on Wednesday, February 19th between 8 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. or Thursday, February 20th between 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.

OLPH School Pre-K4 and Kindergarten will hold an Open House for prospective families on Thursday, February 20 from 4-6 PM.  If you know of an interested family, please invite or bring them to the Kindergarten classroom.  We are now accepting applications, for Pre-K4 through Eighth Grade for the 2014/2015 school year.
