STUDENT NEWS: Fly Fishing, Educational Outfitters Scholarship, Correction on Honor Roll, Spring Art Show, Summer Art Camp
· Fly Fishing--Fr. Mike Creson, in conjunction with the Boy Scouts, is offering an introductory course in Fly Fishing on Sunday, April 15, at 4:00 P.M. in the Parish Life Center (PLC). Men, women, boys, and girls are all welcome. No RSVP required. Hope to see you there

· Correction on Honor Roll-- Congratulations to 6th grader Bentley Burgess, who received First Honors the third nine weeks. Good job, Bentley!
· Spring Art Show--The Spring Art Show will be displayed April 27 in the PLC. Students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade may participate. Mrs. Meinert will be sending more information in her upcoming expectations letter to parents.
· Summer Art Camp--Mrs. Meinert will be conducting Summer Art Camps during the following times:
o Rising 3rd-5th graders, July 2 - 6, 9:00 A.M. to Noon, $100 per student
o Rising 6th-8th graders, July 9 - 13, 9:00 A.M. to Noon, $100 per student

SCHOOL NEWS: SCRIP orders, Home and School Committee Nominations, Grandparent's Day, Help Needed with St. Cecilia's Closet,
Applications for 2012-2013
· SCRIP orders--The next SCRIP order will be placed Tuesday, April 17. The SCRIP Company is closed next week; OLPH School is on Easter Break the week following Easter.
· Home and School Committee Nominations--Do you want to be more involved in your child's school and learn more about OLPH? Do you know of another parent/guardian who would be a good representative of OLPH? The Home and School nominating committee needs your help filling all positions on the Home and School Board for the 2012-2013 school year. We are seeking nominations for President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. These positions are open to any home and school member, and we welcome involvement from all grade levels. If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else, please send an email to rsmamm@epbfi.com by Tuesday, April 3. Please give the name of the person you are nominating and position you believe they are suited for. You do not have to contact the person you nominate; the nominating committee will contact nominees to determine if they are interested. · Grandparents' Day--Grandparents' Day is scheduled for Friday, April 27. The celebration begins with Mass at 8:15 A.M. followed by a continental breakfast and entertainment by the students in the OLPH gymnasium. There will be an Art Show and Book Fair in the PLC. Grandparents are also welcome to visit the classrooms. Invitations will be mailed by next week; RSVPs are to be called in to 423-622-1481, or emailed to ksumrell@catholicweb.com .
· Help needed--Creative Arts Guild needs some help with St. Cecilia's Closet. They are in need of one or more volunteers to help with mending--replacing buttons, stitching popped pleats and hems, and an occasional zipper replacement. It is a great way for someone to earn PIP hours working at home. Please contact Cissy West at cisnbill@epbfi.com if you are interested in helping with this ongoing project.
· St. Cecilia's Closet--There are First Communion articles of clothing for sale in St. Cecilia's Closet, including dresses and suit jackets.
· Applications for the 2012-2013--OLPH School is accepting applications for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year for students in grades Pre-K through 8th. Booster Club Committee nominations
· Spring Sports--The Rams spring sports season is underway! Check the Fanfare Calendar weekly to see what times the baseball, track, tennis, and golf teams are playing. Schedules are also on our website, www.myolph.com, under Athletics, as well as on the ParentsWeb calendar. Go Rams!!
· Baseball Update--Rams baseball is well underway. The team features 10 boys who show up every day ready to get better, and it has shown in the three games so far. Sam Stovall, James Teal, Logan McCallie, and Rhys Robertson have handled the pitching load. John Tiller had his best game at third base last week. The team will play Saturday, March 31, at Notre Dame High School at 11:00, and then take a break for the 8th grade trip and Easter Break.
· Track News--The OLPH Rams track team continued to amaze at the meet held on Thursday, March 29. Hannah Ingle added 2½ feet to her long jump and shaved her mile to under 7 minutes. Hannah joined Camden Eckler, Ema San Miguel, and Macy Dearing in the winning 4 x 400 relay. They not only beat all the other girls' teams, but also all the boys relay from other schools! Adams Robinson, Charlie Johnson, Tyler Enos, and Ricky Ballard teamed up to win both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays. In individual events, Tyler Enos won discus, Charlie Johnson won the 800, and Ricky Ballard won the 200. Outstanding effort was given by all as each athlete continues to improve.
· Tennis Scoop--The tennis teams continue to play strong during the beautiful spring weather. Both the boys and girls defeated Silverdale on March 27.The teams split with St. Jude on March 28; the girls won 6-3, and the boys lost 3-6. Keep up the Spirit and Go Rams!!
· Booster Club Committee Nominations-- If you would like to play an active role in OLPH athletics now is the time!! The OLPH Booster Club is accepting nominations for the Executive Committee. Nominees are taken from OLPH Booster Club members. The Executive Committee Officers positions are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Nominations should be submitted to the Athletic Director, Todd Close, at tclose1717@bellsouth.net. Nominations began March 27, 2012 and will end Monday, April 9, 2012. Coach Close will announce all nominations on April 9th; elections will be held at the OLPH Booster Club Meeting on May 7 at 6:00 P.M. in the library. The election is open to all OLPH Booster Club members. The Secretary, Angela Johnson, can provide details on the duties of each position. Contact her at roobearangel@comcast.net.
