The virtue for the month of January is "self-control" (in action and words). God has given us wonderful bodies for living and minds for learning. The Christian fruit of self-control is our ability to choose God-pleasing behavior over sinful and harmful actions.

Thank you to Kim Thomas and Tracie Blakely for organizing the Catholic Charities "Giving Tree" this year. Due to the generosity of OLPH School and Parish families we were able to help 8 families. We received over 330 gifts for our families which made Christmas Day very special for 26 people.

Winter sports pictures by Lifetouch will be taken Thursday, January 14, beginning at 8:15. Winter sports include basketball (5/6 girls, 5/6 boys, 7/8 girls, 7/8 boys, and basketball cheerleading). These athletes will be given a picture order envelope, which needs to be brought to school on Thursday, with orders prepaid. Checks are made to Lifetouch. Athletes, please remember to bring your sports uniform.

The OLPH "PIP" Program (Parent Involvement and Participation Program) has logged in 3,404.89 volunteer hours that OLPH parents have so generously performed for the first half of the school year. We are very blessed to have such a commitment from our families at OLPH School...Volunteers are not paid--not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

Nature's Classroom--OLPH School is in the planning stages of developing Nature's Classroom which will provide opportunities for students to make deeper connections with the natural world and inspire a life long sense of wonder. Many thanks to Matt Stovall for the planning and development of Nature's Classroom and to Knights of Columbus Council # 610 for their generous donation to this project.
