Please attend Mass this weekend with your Parish Priest. Prayer for the Semester/Year: Lord of wisdom, as our children begin this semester/year they already face many decisions. May they make choices that will assist them in using all their gifts. We pray for their strength to face the difficult challenges and obstacles that present themselves. May our children not only look to the immediate future, but also consider the long-term effect and impact of their decisions. Give them the comfort of supportive and loyal friends. Finally, may they always listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in their hearts. Amen.
The virtue for the month of January is Peace (to calm my fear). "Peace; be still," Jesus said to the stormy sea. The waves and the disciples in the boat were instantly calmed; that calmness is freedom from upsetting thoughts or feelings." Theme Mass: Friday, January 28 (2nd grade).

SCHOOL INFORMATION: Winter outerwear, Inclement Weather, Scrip cards, Praying Parents
· Winter has arrived-please be sure your student(s) comes to school with proper outerwear, especially those in the younger grades that go outside for recess. Be sure all school uniform items (including lunch boxes, back packs and shoes) are labeled with your student(s) name; in the event the item ends up in Lost and Found, we can return it to the owner.
· School closing due to inclement weather--In the event of delays or closings due to inclement weather, parents/guardians will be notified through Parent Alert, the OLPH website, ParentsWeb announcements, and local TV stations. It is sometimes difficult to "get through" to the local stations, so please be aware that Parent Alert is the most accurate and expedient method of contacting OLPH parents/guardians. If you have a "missed call" on your cell phone from OLPH School, please listen to your voicemail before calling the school.
· OLPH School is now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year. If you would like to receive an application packet or schedule a tour, please contact Teresa Hennen, Director of Admissions, at 423-622-1481, or email Teresahennen@catholicweb.com
· Scrip Program--OLPH School has the Scrip gift card program up and running. If you want to order gift cards for special events or everyday shopping, please consider ordering through Scrip, and OLPH School will benefit from your purchase. For more information please contact Cissy West at cisnbill@bellsouth.net or 423-488-4217, or Marina Delaney at delaneymarina@hotmail.com or 423-827-2632.
· "Praying Parents" is a group of parents who meet twice a week to pray for our school and parish communities. The parents meet in OLPH Church Wednesday mornings after Mass and Thursday afternoons at 2:30. If you would like to join this wonderful group of parents or have any questions please contact Gail Raabe at graabe@catt.com for information about the Wednesday group or Cathy Oliver at catherineoliver@optilink.us regarding the Thursday group.
