STUDENT NEWS: Inclement weather policy

· Inclement weather policy (page 10 of the Parent/Student Handbook)--In the event of inclement weather, parents/guardians will be notified through Parent Alert, the OLPH website, and local TV stations regarding the closing of school. All local network television stations will be called as early as possible to indicate the closing of the school. Please note that most television stations will not put school openings on the air. If you do not see OLPH listed as closed, we will be open. This procedure also pertains to OLPH School closing due to illnesses, i.e. flu.

SCHOOL NEWS: Applications for 2012-2013, ChattiGras,Open House

· Applications for the 2012-2013--OLPH School is accepting applications for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year for students in grades Pre-K through 8th. For additional information or a tour of the school please contact Teresa Hennen, Director of Admissions at 423-698-3274 or email teresahennen@catholicweb.com .
· ChattiGras - The Chattanooga Area Schools (OLPH, St. Jude and Notre Dame High School) along with area Knights of Columbus and Catholic Churches have combined efforts to sponsor a large city-wide fundraising event to support our Catholic Schools and the Chattanooga Catholic Schools Education Fund. This event will be a city-wide Mardi Gras "Chattanooga Style" on Saturday, February 18, 2012. To sponsor this event or help with auction items please contact Kathy Sumrell at 423-622-1481 or email ksumrell@catholicweb.com. Ticket cost is $50.00 and includes dinner, silent auction, and the band Right to Party will allow you to dance the night away. ChattiGras will be at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center from 7:30 – 11:30 P.M. You can purchase tickets on line at www.myndhs.com or contact Kathy Sumrell and buy your tickets in the OLPH School or Parish office.
· Open House – OLPH School will have an Open House for prospective Pre-K and Kindergarten students on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. in the School Library and Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. in the Kindergarten Classroom or the Pre-K Classroom. There will be an All School Open House for prospective families in grades Pre-K through 8th Grade on Sunday, March 11, 2012 after the 10:00 A.M. Mass. OLPH spirit items for sale

· Spring sports sign-up--The scheduling of spring sports (track & field, golf, tennis, baseball, softball) will take place Tuesday, January 17, 2012; therefore, students interested in participating in any of these sports need to notify Coach Todd Close by 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 17. Coach Close may be contacted at tclose1717@bellsouth.net, if you have any questions. The sign-up sheet is available on our website, www.myolph.com under Athletics, and in the school office.
· Pictures by Lifetouch--Basketball teams and basketball cheerleader group pictures will be taken on Wednesday, January 18, beginning at 8:15 A.M. All basketball players and cheerleaders need to bring their uniforms for the pictures. Order envelopes were given out to parents at a recent basketball game; the team pictures need to be pre-ordered and prepaid for--the cost is $14.00. Checks are made payable to Lifetouch.
· Little Rams Basketball Clinic--OLPH Booster Club is sponsoring a basketball skills clinic for 1st through 4th graders of OLPH School and local parishes. The clinic will be held the following Saturday mornings: Feb. 11, 18, 25, and March 3; 8:30 to 9:45 for 1st and 2nd graders, and 10:00 to 11:15 for 3rd and 4th graders. The cost is $45 per student, which covers the four clinics and a t-shirt. Weekly participation is available for $14 per session, with the fee payable that day. Registration forms were sent home with OLPH School students; the form will be available on the school website, www.myolph.com within the next week. Questions may be addressed to the OLPH School Office, 423-622-1481.
· OLPH items for sale--The Booster Club has a OLPH spirit items for sale, including water bottles ($3), athletic towels ($7), and ball caps ($12). OLPH t-shirts are also for sale for $10; these t-shirts may be worn to P.E. class. There are a few hoodies for sale ($20) in the following sizes: Adult XL, Adult L, Adult M, and Youth S. Please contact Hannah Jones at olphschooloffice@catholicweb.com if you would like to purchase any of these items. Checks are made payable to OLPH Booster Club; we are not able to provide change for cash purchases, so please send in the exact amount if using cash.
