interested may attend. The Home and School Association is an
organization whose goal is to assist teachers, the principal, and the School
Committee in the accomplishment of projects relative to the building of the
parent/school community. The organization also assists teachers when necessary,
provides a forum for exchanging ideas for improvements of the facilities and
raises monies to be used to benefit the students. The Home and School Officers
for the 2012-2013 school year can be contacted at the following email
addresses:

President:

Homeroom
Parents meeting--Beth Tapley will meet with Homeroom Parents on Wednesday,
August 15, at 1:00 and again at 5:30 (whichever
one is convenient for the Homeroom Parent) in the OLPH School Conference
Room. Anyone interested in becoming a
homeroom parent should contact Beth at bethtapley@gmail.com
.
·
Praying
Parents--The "Praying Parents" is a group of parents who gather
to pray specifically for the children, teachers, parents, clergy and staff of
our Catholic Schools. Prayers come directly from scripture, along with any
intentions received. The group meets on Thursdays following Mass (9:00 A.M.) in
Holy Family Hall of OLPH Church. The first meeting will be Thursday, August 16.
If you have questions please contact Lori Voges, Religion Teacher at OLPH
School at lvoges@catholicweb.com . Draw closer to God through prayer and
fellowship. Seek God's wisdom and receive His peace.
·
Ram Run
2012--We're gearing up for this year's Ram run on October 13. As you know,
this is the school's biggest fundraiser,
and last year we raised close to $9,000. This year we're hoping to exceed
$10,000, but we need your help! If you own a business or work for a company
that might be interested in being a sponsor this year, please email Dawn McAbee
at dvscavett@yahoo.com for details on
how to participate.
·
Food
allergies--We have several students with food allergies, and some with
severe peanut/tree nut allergies. We ask that no nut products be brought in to
school for treats in the classrooms. We prefer no food with nuts or nut
by-products be brought for lunch. However, if they are, students will be
sitting at a designated table for these lunches. This enables us to monitor
easily and make sure those students and tables are completely clean from
peanuts and residue after lunch.
·
VIRTUS
training--There is a VIRTUS training at OLPH on Monday, August 27. VIRTUS
is a program for protection of children and youth and is mandated by the
Diocese of Knoxville for all adults volunteering or working with children. This includes substitute teachers,
coaches, classroom volunteers and boy/girl scout leaders. Registration
is done online at www.virtus.org . Once on
the website, click on registration, then scroll to Knoxville Diocese and click
on it to find Our Lady of Perpetual Help
and register.
