A note from Father Jim Vick: If
the yellow chain is connected at the exit archway between the church and
school, please do NOT take it down and proceed out that exit. It is there for
safety purposes. Also, do not park in the semi-circle in front of the church;
that is a fire lane and you can be ticketed. The handicap parking in the
driveway is for the handicapped only; again, you can be ticketed. Thank you for

STUDENT NEWS: Hats
on Day

Hats on
Day--During Catholic Schools Week, Wednesday was designated as "Hats
on Day", in memory of Amanda Swartout, a student of OLPH School who
bravely fought a brain tumor until her passing on April 19, 2011. One of
Amanda's favorite organizations was "Amanda's Toy Closet" at
LaBonheur Children's Hospital. OLPH students raised $500 for the organization.
Thank you parents and students for your generosity.

Good portion of the ChattiGras auction closes Monday, February 4. Please spread

Pork
roast sale/Men's softball--The Knights of Columbus 6099 is having their
Annual Pork Loin Sale on Sunday, February 3rd. The cost is $25 for a
fully seasoned and cooked/smoked pork roast. All proceeds go to the Right to
Life Cause. Also, any adult male parishioners who would like to play
competitive softball in a local Church League for the Knights of Columbus #6099
can contact Craig Bodnar at 423-314-7447. Practices will start the end of
February.

Ladies
Bible Study-- Are you looking to do something different for Lent? The OLPH
Ladies Bible Study for Lent begins Wednesday, February 20th at 10:00
A.M. in Holy Family Hall. This is a six
week study. Join us as we take hold of
the power in Jesus' cross and apply it to our lives. The Life-giving Power of the
Cross: Sharing in Christ's Victory; the cost is $8.00. Please contact

a book. Nursery will be available in Madonna

Basketball--The
basketball season at OLPH has begun! See calendar above for game schedule. OLPH
School has the following four basketball teams: 5G (5th grade
girls), 5B (5th grade boys), VG (varsity girls-grades 6, 7, 8), and
VB (varsity boys-grades 6, 7, 8). Go
Rams!!

Track
information--Track sign-ups will be
held through February 6.
o
OLPH School will have a varsity team for boys
and girls in grades 6th-8th (coached by Miss Laura
Goodhard), and a new elementary team for boys and girls in grades 3rd-5th
(coached by Mrs. Kari Ingle).
o
There will be a meeting after school on February 14 for parents and students
interested in joining either team. Questions about the varsity team can be
addressed to Coach Goodhard at lgoodhard@catholicweb.com

Tennis
information--Tennis anyone? OLPH Middle School tennis sign up starts Monday, February 4th and is open
to boys and girls in 5th
through 8th grades. Mr. Gary McIntyre, Mrs. Corinne Hennen, and
Mr. Blane Haywood will teach the students proper technique on forehands,
backhands, and serves.
o
Practices will be held on Sundays from 1:00 to
2:00 at the McCallie courts off of Dodds Avenue, beginning Sunday, February 10th. Matches start the week of March 4th,
with an end-of-season tournament May 7th.
o
Tennis athletes need a racquet and good court
shoes. Match attire is white tennis
skirt for girls and white shorts with pockets for the boys. OLPH supplies the
tennis uniform shirt for both boys and girls.

A parent meeting will be held Sunday, February
19th at 1:00 P.M. at the McCallie courts while the children
