SCHOOL NEWS: Chatti Gras, Family Honor, 8th Grade BBQ Fundraiser, Box Top Pizza Party, Earth Savers, Fly Fishing and Middle School Dance

Chatti Gras will be held on February 15, 2014 at 7:00 at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center. It is a Mardi Gras event, Chattanooga style with dinner, casino games, auction, and dancing to the band, “New Revival” out of Nashville. Tickets are $75 each, and a limited number will be sold. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church will be hosting a truly unique chastity program for parents and teens in the 8th grade to come together to discuss life's most important issues, with a special emphasis on chastity and God's gift of sexuality. Family Honor will be held on Friday, February 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, February 8th from 8:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.  Deadline for registering is January 24th.  Register online at www.familyhonor.org.
Please come and enjoy some "to-go" Porkers BBQ, while supporting the fundraising endeavor for the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip.  It will be held in the PLC after the 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. masses on January 26th.  Cost is $8.00 a plate with a $40.00 limit for families of 5 or more.  Each "to-go" meal includes pork, chicken, cole slaw, baked beans and Texas toast.
The February pizza party will be for the class with the largest percentage of box tops collected. We will be collecting the box tops on January 31st.  Bring in your box tops and win a pizza party from Hungry Howie's.
Your efforts in saving chip bags, drink pouches and soup labels has been a great success.  We have earned a new camera for the school from the soup labels that were collected. We have also, earned $225.00 for recycling the drink pouches and chip bags. Thank you for your hard work.  It really pays off.
Who likes to fly fish or would like to learn how to fly fish?  Father Mike Creson is offering an introduction to Fly Fishing basics in the Parish library on Monday, January 27th at 6:30 P.M.  This is for adults and any motivated young person.  For more information call Father Mike at 423-240-3239 or simply show up.
OLPH/ST. JUDE MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE - Current middle school students (6th, 7th and 8th grade) of OLPH and St. Jude only are invited to a casual attire Valentine dance on Saturday, February 1st from 7-10 pm.  Due to a water flooding damage at the #610 Knights Hall, this dance will be held at the Parish Life Center of OLPH.   Entry fee of $10 entitles you to dancing to hit music by DJ April Eberly, beverages, light snacks and a chance to win an iTunes gift card.  Come dressed in your favorite jeans and a white, red, or pink shirt and be entered into another drawing for an iTunes gift card. 
 (In accordance with Catholic School dress policy, modest attire is required for entry into the dance).
 For the safety of the students, parents or guardians must drop off and pick up their students at the door.  No students from other schools will be admitted to the dance.  
                                                            Sports News:
The basketball season is going very well.  Thank you to everyone for all of your support.  We are in need of some more volunteers to help at the basketball games.  We need volunteers to help with the scoreboard, gate and concessions.  Your child does not have to play basketball to volunteer.  If you are interested in volunteering please, go by the gym and sign-up, there are posters on the wall by the door.
