The virtue for the month of February is "gentleness" (in my manner and words). Christian gentleness is shown in how we solve problems with those around us and how we care for people in need. We follow Jesus' example of the Good Samaritan as we treat our neighbors and friends with gentleness. Theme mass: Kindergarten, Friday, Feb. 25

· Student Recognition--Congratulations to Curtis Dearing, 4th grader at OLPH School, for placing second in the region AAU Wrestling Tournament held last weekend at Central high School. Curtis won four matches (two by pin, one by major decision) in the region wide invitational tournament to earn a Silver Medal. Good job, Curt!
· Jump Rope for Heart--Students in grades Kindergarten through 6th will be participating in "Jump Rope for Heart", a fundraiser sponsored by the American Heart Association. Students were given a brochure/sponsor form to raise funds for this association. Donations in the form of checks are made payable to "American Heart Association," and are due to Coach Close or the school office by February 28. The students began the jump roping event on Monday, February 14.
· Family Honor--All 8th graders in the Chattanooga Deanery are invited to participate in the Family Honor Program on February 25th and 26th. This year Family Honor will be held at OLPH Church in the Parish Life Center (PLC). Registration packets are located in the back of the church and on our website, www.myolph.com. Family Honor's mission is to provide opportunities for parents and children to learn to communicate effectively on important life values, with the special focus on the truth in an interactive format. Participants will walk away with a new perspective on the big questions "Who am I?" and "What is life for?". Additional information or have questions about this program may be addressed to Jan O'Boyle at 706-226-9110 Or Mary Pat Haywood at 706-459-6391. Space is limited to 40 families. Forms and payment of $25.00 may be turned in to the OLPH Church office or school office.
· World Math Day and World Spelling Day--World Math Day is March 1st and as in the past couple of years, OLPH students will be competing with students from all over the world. This year World Spelling Day has been added; it is March 3rd, and we are participating in this as well. Students may start practicing at home as they are at school. An account has been set up for each student with their user name and password. The websites are www.worldmathsay.com and www.worldspellingday.com. The same password is used for both websites. Students play at home and at school against other students around the world in live interactive games. Each game lasts for 60 seconds, and students who answer the most questions correctly appear in the Hall of Fame.
