STUDENT NEWS: Student Recognition, Report Cards
· Student Recognition-- Landon McCallie, 2nd grader at OLPH, is a member of the Fury U8 baseball team. They recently won the Mike Mullen Tournament held in Rossville February 25 and 26, and the Open Baseball Blast in Dalton on March 3 and 4. Congratulations, Landon!!
· Report Cards--Report cards for the third nine weeks will be sent home with the students on Thursday, March 15. All accounts are to be paid in full by March 13, 2012 (Lunch, After School Care, library books, appropriate sports uniforms), in for the students to receive the report cards.
SCHOOL NEWS: Open House, Lent Fish Fry, St. Cecilia's Closet,
Applications for 2012-2013, Ladies Bible Study
· Open House--There will be an All-School Open House for prospective families with students in grades PreK through 8th on Sunday, March 11, after the 10:00 A.M. Mass. If you would like additional information, or know someone who would, please contact Teresa Hennen, Director of Admissions at 423-698-3274 or teresahennen@catholicweb.com .
· Lent Fish Fry--The Knights of Columbus council 6099 will be hosting Fish Frys five Friday evenings during Lent at 6:00 P.M. in the PLC (after the 5:30 Stations of the Cross). Proceeds will be split between the OLPH Home and School Association and the K of C Wheelchair Foundation. Cost is $6 per plate; take-out will be available, as well as cheese quesadillas. To encourage school families to participate, we will be sending "tickets" home during the week with your child. Mark your family name and the grades of your children, and bring with you to the dinner. The grade with the most participation during the five Fridays will receive an ice cream party after Easter! Come out and enjoy the fellowship with your parish family. The following classes are requested to provide desserts for the dinners. The homeroom parents will be in touch during the assigned week:
o March 16 - PreK and Kindergarten
o March 23 - 1st and 4th grades
o March 30 - 2nd grade
· St. Cecilia's Closet--There are First Communion articles of clothing for sale in St. Cecilia's Closet, including dresses and suit jackets. When you start cleaning closets, St. Cecilia's Closet is in need of six inch CLEAR PLASTIC skirt hangers. If you have any of this size please send them to the school office.
· Applications for the 2012-2013--OLPH School is accepting applications for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year for students in grades Pre-K through 8th. · Ladies Bible Study--OLPH Ladies Bible Study is beginning a new study for Lent, "Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving: Spiritual Practices that Bring Us Closer to God", by Kevin Perrotta. The study began on Ash Wednesday, February 22 and takes place on Wednesdays at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Hall. The cost is $10 per person. Join us as we learn why we undertake the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, and how they can transform us to become more like the persons that God has created us to be. · Tennis Highlights--Congratulations to the Boys and Girls tennis teams with their recent wins over Grace Academy and Silverdale. Andrew Lisy and Katrina Lundquist had outstanding plays!
