SCHOOL NEWS: Out
of Uniform Day, Blessing of the animals, Alumni Day, Oktoberfest
·
Out of
Uniform Day--OLPH School will have an additional $1 out of uniform day on Thursday,
October 4, 2012. Father Jim is doing
a lot of improvements/changes to the church and school for our 75th
anniversary. One of the things he would
like is to get is a new crucifix for the children's masses. The one we have is very heavy for some of our
children. He would like to get the San
Daminao Crucifix, which is more commonly known as the St. Francis
Crucifix. We thought it would be a great
idea if it was a 75th birthday gift from the children. So, we are adding a $1 out of uniform day on
Oct. 4th. This is the day we are
celebrating St. Francis with the blessing of the animals. We will take the money collected and present
it to Father towards the purchase of that crucifix.
·
Blessing
of the animals--In honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Father Jim
and/or Father Mike will bless our pets on the football field, Thursday, October
4, at 2:40. Parents/Guardians may bring pet(s) directly to the OLPH football
field--please have your pet on a leash, or in a carrying crate. The pets are not to be brought into
the school buildings or onto the ramp
near the gym, due to student allergies.
·
Alumni
Day--OLPH is celebrating our 75th Anniversary and all alumni are
invited to join us for a special homecoming day on Friday, October 5th.
We will begin the day with an all-school Mass at 8:15 followed by a brunch
reception in the cafeteria. Alumni will be able to stroll the halls to view the
students' special displays and share their memories of the school. Those who wish
may stay to eat with the students in the cafeteria. If you are an OLPH graduate
and would like to participate, please
RSVP for brunch or lunch by October 2nd to Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com or 423-622-1481.
·
