Lunch", Middle School Dance, Makers Club

"Thanksgiving
Lunch"--On Thursday, November 15, the cafeteria lunch will be turkey
and dressing. As with any day, parents are welcome to eat with their student;
however, the cost of the Thanksgiving adult lunch is $5.00; a child visitor is
$2.50. The lunch payment will be debited from the student/family account, so
cash payment in advance is not necessary. Parents of students receiving free or
reduced lunch are required to pay cash for their lunch. PLEASE

Reservations
are essential and must be made by Noon on Tuesday, November 13. All
reservations are to be sent to Mary Curtiss, Cafeteria Manager, at olphcafe@catholicweb.com . Include your child's name and
homeroom teacher's name and number of people coming in to eat. On the
day of the lunch, parents and siblings who have made their reservations are to
sign in at the school office and get a lunch ticket to take to the cafeteria.

The lunch times will vary somewhat,
but the students will still eat around the same time as their regular lunch
time: Kindergarten - 10:30, 1st and 2nd - 10:55, 5th
and 6th - 11:25, PreK - 11:50, 3rd and 4th grade - 11:50, and 7th and 8th
- 12:15.

Middle
School dance--There will be a "Black and White" theme dance for
the middle school students (grades 6th, 7th, and 8th)
on Saturday, November 17th from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M. at the Knights of
Columbus Hall off Sylvan Street. Admission is $5 per student. Light snacks will
be served. Dress: black and white clothing.

Makers
Club--A message from Glenn Gass: Makers'
Club Lego will have two groups of young people for December. The age group is Kdg.
through 2nd, but we will welcome older students wishing to help
supervise the building. Group 1 will meet on Mondays (Dec. 3, 10, 17) and Group
2 on Tuesdays (Dec. 4, 11, 18) from 3:15 until 5:00. We will be meeting in the
kindergarten. Students in the First and
Second Grade will meet in the gym after dismissal and walk over with me. Everyone will need to be picked up by
5:30. There is a limit of six for
each group--total of 12 students. Registration opens Monday, November 12
and closes when all twelve spots are taken.
Please register early and online
to ensure a space for your child (ren). Even if you have told me that you want
your child (ren) to participate, you will still need to register and pay
online. No checks in envelopes on the last day for registration, PLEASE! Our model will be on display in the
Kindergarten entry way (coat area) and in Holy Family Hall during the holidays.
This is NOT a beginner level Lego project.

Landscaping
Work Day--In order to prepare for a more beautiful campus in the spring, we
will be having a Landscaping Work Day on Saturday, November 10th
from 8:00 A.M. to Noon. If you can help or have questions, please reply to

Scrip--There are only five remaining order dates for Scrip
between now and Christmas break--November 13th and 27th,
and December 4th, 11th, and 18th. Payments are due to the school office or
to Presto Pay by 9:00 A.M. on those days. If you need help placing

Home and
School meeting--Home and School Meeting is Wednesday, November 14 at
6:00 P.M. There will be a chili supper served before the meeting starting
at 5:30 P.M. The meeting dinner will be in the Parish Life Center (PLC). Pizza and babysitting will be provided in the
school cafeteria for the children. There
is still time to sign up if you would like to enter your chili in the cook-off
and compete for a $50 Scrip gift card! Contact Barb Haimelin at DBhaimelin@comcast.net . Also, the Booster Club has a few
hoodies left to sell ($20 apiece for most sizes), as well as Booster Club

Chick-fil-A
Spirit Night--Spirit Night will be Tuesday, November 13, from 4:00 to 9:00
at the Chick-fil-A on Gunbarrel Road (in front of Target), and/or Hamilton
Place Mall. OLPH School will receive a percentage of the sales made by OLPH
families during that time. The homeroom class with the most participants will
win a Chick-fil-A Nugget tray for their classroom!

Thanksgiving
Food Drive--OLPH School and Parish is helping Catholic Charities with their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. We
are collecting for 250 families this year; please send in 5 to 10 cans/boxes of
your food item. If you do not have time to shop, cash donations are gladly
accepted, and we will do the shopping.
Boxes for the food will be in the main hallway of the school, and Holy
Family Hall. Please bring the food items
by Friday, November 16th.
The food baskets will be assembled on Sunday, November 18th, at 2:00
P.M. in the OLPH Parish Life Center (PLC). If your
family would like to help assemble the food baskets please contact Cissy West

Lifetouch
soccer team pictures--Soccer team pictures will be taken by Lifetouch on Tuesday, November 13, at 8:15 A.M. 5/6 and 7/8 grade teams will
have their team pictures taken--portrait purchasing information was sent home
with students and parents at a recent soccer game--extra envelopes are
available in the school office. Please
be sure your student athlete brings his/her white soccer uniform to school that
morning.

Soccer
news--Coach Jon Reinert reports the 5/6 grade soccer team is, "having
a blast this year. This is my first year coaching and I couldn't have asked for
a better team. I really appreciate the efforts and good spirits of Hagan and
Valentina." Coach Todd Close
reports, "the 7/8 grade team is off to a great start at 6-0. We have
another big team with strong players. I can see this team going far this
season. I am looking for the 8th grade to really step up and lead,
and I'm excited about the 7th grade with the talent they have."

Booster
Club news--Booster Club passes have arrived and are available in the school
office. The passes are given to Booster Club members to gain free admission to
all OLPH School sports team home
games. If you would like your
family pass sent home with your student, please contact Hannah Jones at olphschooloffice@catholicweb.com
. The passes will also be available for pick up at the Home and School meeting
on Wednesday, November 14. A table will also be set up selling Rams Hoody sweatshirts for $20 (sizes
available are Youth small, medium and large, and Adult small, medium, large, extra-large,
and extra extra large ($25). There are only a few sweatshirts in each size, so
get there early if you want to purchase one, or contact Hannah Jones at the above
email address.

Football
news--Several OLPH boys play on two YMCA-sponsored football teams, U8 Rams
and U10 Rams. Congratulations to both teams as they advance to the "Super
Bowl" in their respective divisions. Come cheer on the teams--the U8 Rams
play the Broncos at 11:30 A.M. this Saturday (November 10) at Baylor High
School. The U10 Rams play at 1:00 P.M. against the Falcons. Go Rams!

Basketball
sign-ups--Basketball season is just around the corner. OLPH School has four
basketball teams--5/6 grade girls, 5/6 grade boys, 7/8 grade girls, and 7/8
grade boys. The deadline for signing up
is Monday, December 3rd. If teams are full by this date, no late
sign-ups will be accepted. Coach Close will visit the 5th-8th
grade classrooms to hand out sign-up forms. Forms are also available in the
school office as well as on our website, www.myolph.com
under "Athletics." Coaches are
needed; please contact Athletic Director Todd Close at tclose1717@bellsouth.net if you are interested.
