SCHOOL NEWS: Trunk or Treat, Speech and Hearing, VIRTUS
Session, Bricks for Kids and Diocese of Knoxville Survey
1. OLPH's - NEXT BIG EVENT - Trunk or Treat is Oct 24th - 6:45 - after Mass. Costumes are permitted
at Mass (no Mask during service). We still need volunteers. You can decorate
your car, truck, or set up a tent area. This event is a lot of fun each
year. YOU and the KIDS will have a ton of fun, candy, games, and food.
H&S will begin accepting candy donations the week we return from Fall Break
- reminders will be sent. For additional information please email Jennifer

The Speech and Hearing Center
will conduct speech and hearing screenings for $20.00 on Tuesday, October 20th. Forms will be sent home with students when we
come back from fall break.

There will be a VIRTUS Session
held at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul on October 21, 2015 at 12:00
P.M. It will be held in the Religious Ed
Room on the 1st floor. Any

4. Bricks 4 Kidz® is
an exciting after school S.T.E.M. enrichment program that is starting a new
unit on outer space. These sessions will
be after school on Thursdays from 3:30pm- 4:30pm starting October
15th and continuing until November 19th. Bricks 4 Kidz encourages
students' curiosity and creativity by teaching children to learn with
LEGO® Bricks reinforcing S.T.E.M. based principles. During this
quarter's theme, "Space", students will delve into the NASA space
program. Students will construct a satellite, a lunar module, and a
centrifuge. Lessons incorporate the science behind launching things into obit
and what it is like to be an astronaut in
space. Bricks 4 Kidz classes will be held in Mrs. Monahan's
classroom and the cost is $65. Information is coming home in this
week's Friday Folders. You can register on-line at

5. The Diocese
of Knoxville and all of its schools are engaged in an ongoing
continuous improvement process, of which all stakeholders are a part. As one method of reaching all stakeholders, Our
Lady of Perpetual Help School will send an invitation by email and a letter in
the Friday Folders/Fanfare/Parish Bulletin to participate in an online survey
between the dates of October 19, 2015 and November 6, 2015. Your cooperation and support in completing
the surveys will be greatly appreciated.
If you do not have access to a computer, time will be available in the
school computer lab. Please be on the
look-out for your survey invitation in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the Catholic Ram
football team on
its undefeated season. The Rams beat
Dayton City Thursday night 36 - 6. It
was a great year, and the first unbeaten season in 50 years. Go
Rams!

Congratulations to the Cross Country team. The
OLPH Running Rams finished their season on Monday, September 28th. Here is a list of all the awards that our
runners brought home! Rachel-Anne Scalla
got 3rd place in 8th grade girl's division. Kassidy Barta got 2nd place, Alex
Soutuyo got 4th place and Morgan Hicks got 5th
place in 7th grade girl's division Ava Lindo got 4th
place for the 6th grade girl's division and Drew Ingle got 5th
place for the 6th grade boy's division. Ethan Ash got 1st place for the 4th
grade boys division. Our middle school
girl's team were awarded a First Place
trophy and our elementary boy's team received 3rd place. These awards were given out based on the
times placed by each runner during the entire season. Congratulations to all of the team for a
wonderful season!!!

Knights of Columbus
#6099 will be holding a Soccer Challenge
at the OLPH soccer field on Saturday, October 17th from 2:00 P.M. -
5:00 P.M. This is a free event for 9 -
14 year old boys and girls. Entry forms
are available outside the school office.
