SCHOOL NEWS: Giving Tree, Scrip, Book Fair. Recycling News
·         Giving Tree-- Advent is upon us, and as in years past, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and School have adopted families through Catholic Charities and in our own parish who are in need of assistance during the Holiday Season. The "Giving Tree" has been set up in Holy Family Hall, and you now have the opportunity to pick an "Angel" from the tree.
Ø  When you pick up your "Angel", please note the number and be sure to sign by the corresponding number on the lists near the tree. This will help us to keep track of the "Angels" and assure that none are forgotten.
Ø  You will find some angels with family gift cards to be used to help families provide a Christmas dinner and other necessities not on the wish lists. OLPH School will be selling Scrip Gift Cards every Sunday after the Masses, and purchasing or ordering from us will help the school as well as your adopted family!
Ø  Angel gifts should be returned to the school or parish office by December 9th. Please include your Angel ornament with the unwrapped gift. You can place your gift in a gift bag or leave it unwrapped. If you would like to donate a roll of wrapping paper, it will be greatly appreciated. This allows the parents to wrap the gifts and enjoy this part of Christmas for their kids. Thank you for making Christmas special for these families!
·         Scrip--There are only three remaining order dates for Scrip between now and Christmas break-- December 4th, 11th, and 18th. Payments are due to the school office or to Presto Pay by 9:00 A.M. on those days. If you need help placing orders online contact Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com or 423-622-1481, or Marina Delaney at delaneymarina@hotmail.com or 423-827-2632.
·         Book Fair--The Book Fair will be open on Saturday, December 1, during Breakfast with Santa (9 A.M. to Noon in the school library), and Monday, December 3 through Thursday, December 6 from 7:45 to 3:45 in the library. Great potential for Christmas gifts!
·         Recycling News-- Did you know that through our recycling efforts we have reduced our trash pick-up from three times a week to two times a week? We receive money for paper (mixed and newspaper) and cardboard (be sure to break down the boxes); so, please put these in the paper recycling dumpster. We also redeem "salty snack bags" (e.g. potato chips, corn chips, Chex mix, etc.--snack size and regular size), juice pouches, and Lunchable covers, for two cents each. That may not sound like much, but it adds up quickly! If you would like to help, please send the empty bags, pouches, and covers to the cafeteria. Every little bit is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mrs. Curtiss, Cafeteria Manager
