SCHOOL NEWS:  Breakfast with Santa, Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest, 8th Grade Mixed Bag Fundraiser, Mass Schedule Changes, Middle School Dance and Chatti Gras
1.       BREAKFAST WITH SANTA - This annual family event is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th. The first picture sitting is at 7:30 a.m. and the last picture sitting is at 11:10 a.m. The price is $10 per person or $45 maximum per family.  This includes a full breakfast buffet, crafts and games in the gym, and a family picture with Santa (including  full rights to the pictures and a 4x6 printout). We have a new photographer this year. I think that everyone will really like him and we are working on a cool backdrop for the pictures.  If you would like to volunteer for setup the night before or the morning of, prep for food the night before or cook the morning of please e-mail DeAnna Roberts at radiodeanna@gmail.com: radiodeanna@gmail.com>.  Below is the link to sign-up for your designated picture spot and breakfast spot.  There is room for 72 families so please signup as soon as possible.  There are also spots to sign-up for volunteering the night before or the day of.  You do get PIP hours for this as well.  Any questions contact DeAnna Roberts or Jennifer Flowers. http://vols.pt/yd11zH.
2.      The Knights of Columbus #6099 will be hosting a Free Throw Championship on December 5th from 1:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. for boys and girls between the ages of 9 - 14.  If are interested in participating we have the forms at the school office.
3.      Help support our 8th grade fundraiser for trip to Chicago.  We are selling cool reusable bags, gift wrap, kitchen gadgets and great gifts to help our cause.  Go to www.mixedbagdesigns.com, browse the online store and pick out your favorites.  Add your orders online, pay at the time of order, and they will be shipped straight to your house.  Register as a new user to set up user name and password. Once logged in enter ID #102340 to place your order. You can order between November 9th and December 6th
4.      Early Mass Time to Change Beginning on November 29th.  Attendance at certain Masses has also been growing beyond our seating capacity and parking resources.  This is a "good problem" to have.  After carefully reviewing our options and the scheduling needs of PSR(Parish School of Religion) and Confirmation classes, and, also, having consulted with many of you already about a change in the Sunday Mass schedule, we will make a change in the time of 7:30 A.M. Mass by only 30 minutes. The early Mass on Sunday will now start at 8:00 A.M.  Thank you for helping to make this small change in our schedule of Masses.  It is my hope that this minor change will help to distribute the numbers of those in attendance at Sunday Masses.  Your understanding is most appreciated.  If you have family or friends who visit from out-of-town I ask that you let them know of our new Mass schedule.
5.      Current middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) of OLPH and St. Jude only are invited to a Christmas dance on Saturday, December 5 from 7-10 PM. This dance will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 313 Sylvan Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Entry fee of $10 entitles you to dancing to hit music by DJ April Eberly, beverages and light snacks. No outside food or drinks are allowed with the exception of students with food allergies. Wear your Christmas character costume or tacky sweater. Examples: Elf, Candy Cane, Reindeer or Santa. Prize for best costume and sweater will be awarded. Be creative! (In accordance with Catholic School dress policy, modest attire is required for entry into the dance).  We are requesting that all students be considerate with their cell phone use and respect their fellow classmates. Anyone who is taking pictures or recording others without permission will have their device taken away and returned to a parent at the end of the dance.
For the safety of the students, parents or guardians must drop off and pick up their students at the door. No students from other schools will be admitted to the dance.
6.      SAVE THE DATE! Feburary 6, 2016 
The Chattanooga area's best Mardi Gras event - Chatti Gras is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 7:00 pm at The Chattanoogan Hotel. Chatti Gras is presented by and benefits the students of the Chattanooga Catholic Schools - Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Notre Dame and St. Jude. Because of the new venue, individual tickets for this event will only be made available starting January 6, AND WILL BE LIMITED. Sponsorships, which include reserved seating, are available now. 2.      Handmade Crosses for Sale.  8th Grade OLPH students have made clay crosses that are hand crafted, glazed, one of a kind works of art.  They make great gifts and will be for sale on Sunday, November 22nd after the 10 a.m. Teen Mass in Holy Family Hall.  Both ornament and necklace sizes are available and cost $5-$20. 5.      We have been a parish for over 76 years!  And, as a parish family we are growing.  Attendance at certain Masses has also been growing beyond our seating capacity and parking resources.  This is a "good problem" to have.  After carefully reviewing our options and scheduling needs of PSR (Parish School of Religion) and Confirmation classes, and also, having consulted with many of you already about a change in the Sunday Mass schedule, we will make a change in the time of the 7:30 A.M. Mass.  During the Season of Advent, beginning November 29th of this year, we will change the Sunday 7:30 A.M. Mass by 30 minutes to 8:00 A.M.  It is my hope that this minor change will help to distribute the numbers of those in attendance at Sunday Masses.  Thank you for your understanding as we try to accommodate our growing numbers and to live within our resources, Fr. Jim.
