SCHOOL NEWS: Safety Patrol, Virtus Training, ChattiGras, Bi-LO Gift Cards, Guitar lessons and Catholic Charities Thanksgiving Food Drive
·        Safety Patrol is a parent led volunteer opportunity. Our goal is to keep our kids safe during the peak times of morning drop off. This is a great way to earn those PIP hours and it only takes about 30 minutes a day (including dropping off your student in the cafeteria and picking up and returning safety equipment). Working a full week will earn you 3 PIP hours!  We're using VolunteerSpot to organize parent volunteers for our morning parking lot Safety Patrol. Check the weeks ahead for openings.  Please sign up for OLPH Morning Safety Patrol. SIGN-UP FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK BY CLICKING ON MONDAY OF THAT WEEK. ·        Virtus training session will be held Monday, November 10, at 6:00 P.M., in the PLC. If you plan to chaperone a class trip, volunteer in the classroom, come to a class party, or help anywhere in the buildings when students are present, the Diocese of Knoxville requires that you be Virtus trained, and complete a volunteer packet. To register for the November 10th session, go to https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list.cfm?theme=0 and select "Knoxville, TN (Diocese)" and the date of the session. Be sure to save the username and password that you create. You will need it to return to the site regularly to read the monthly bulletins that will keep your training current. You may request a volunteer packet from the office to fill out in advance of your session, or one will be provided there.
·        ChattiGras will be here before we know it so, be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, February 14, 2015.  It will definitely be a fun evening you won't want to miss!  Our ChattiGras Leadership committee is currently in search of auction item donations.  If you have any suggestions, contacts or support you can offer, please contact Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com. 
·        We can, once again, get Bi-Lo Gift cards, through the Script Gift card program to benefit OLPH School.  For every $100 you purchase at face value between now and December 31st, $6 comes back to OLPH School.  Check out our other selection of gift cards:  from gas to groceries, clothing to electronics, home improvement to dining to online shopping.
·        OLPH School and Parish are helping Catholic Charities with their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Food will be collected for 200 families this year.  Please send in the following food items by Friday, November 21st, in the collection containers in each of the school buildings and Holy Family Hall.  The food baskets will be assembled on Sunday, November 23rd at 2:00 P.M. in the OLPH Parish Life Center.  If your family would like to help assemble the food baskets please contact Cissy West at cwest@catholicweb.com or 423-622-1481.  Thank you for helping others.  Pre-K - Jiffy Cornbread Mix    1st and 2nd grade - Canned Yams (large can)   3rd and 4th grade - Cranberry Sauce or Green Beans   5th and 6th grade - Instant Mashed Potatoes  7th and 8th grade - Stove Top Stuffing or Corn.
·        Mr. Gordy Nichol will be offering will be offering group guitar lessons after school on Wednesdays at 3:00 P.M. for students in grades 5-8.  The classes will be 45 minutes and there is a limit of 8 students.  Please contact the school office if you are interested.

·        Please join us for a fun filled evening with games, food, candy and more.  OLPH Trunk or Treat is Saturday, October 25th from, 6:30 - 9:00 P.M. in the parking lot behind Madonna Hall.  Costumes may be worn to Mass--no masks.
·        Current 6th-8th grade OLPH and St. Jude students are invited to a Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 25th from 7:00-10:00 P.M.  This dance will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 313 Sylvan Street, Chattanooga, TN.  Entry fee of $10 entitles you to dancing to hit music by DJ April Eberly, beverages and light snacks.  Wear your Halloween costume. (In accordance with Catholic School dress policy, modest attire is required for entry into the dance).

Also, the 1st - 4th grade will be singing at the meeting!  Babysitting will be provided.
