The yearbook committee is now taking orders for Public Display of Affection (PDA) ads for the yearbook.  Commemorate your special student(s) with an ad in the yearbook.  What better way to remember kindergarten year, First Communion, and other events.  Ads range in price from $25 for ¼ of a page to $100 for a full page ad.  Call the school office 622-1481, or contact Carlene Evans; bigorange@catholicweb.com for more information. Yearbook order forms have gone home with students.

Our Spring Art Show is quickly approaching and we need your artwork to make it happen. All entries will be displayed in the PLC on Friday, May 2 and judged by professional artists. The deadline to submit artwork for the show is Friday April 25. Please bring your framed 2D artworks and 3D pieces (clay, paper sculptures, kites, etc.) to Madonna Hall. Artwork that was made outside of art class is acceptable but entries from art class are especially encouraged!  Submissions need to have the students' names and grades posted on the front of the work. Plan to visit the PLC on Friday, May 2nd, after the Grandparents' Day program to view artwork and congratulate ribbon winners.

Also, if you are free on Thursday May 1st during the school day, Ms. Crumely would greatly appreciate volunteers to help set up in the PLC. Let her know if you are able to help out.
.
OLPH/St. Jude Middle School Dance--Current middle school students (6th, 7th and 8th grade) of OLPH and St. Jude  are invited to a "Smooth Sailing Cruise" on Saturday, April 26th, from 7:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.  This dance will be held at the Parish Life Center of OLPH, 501 S. Moore Road.  Entry fee of $10 entitles students to dancing to hit music by DJ April Eberly, beverages, light snacks and a chance to win a prize. Students can come dressed in their favorite school appropriate Hawaiian cruise attire at this last dance if the year.  (In accordance with Catholic School dress policy, modest attire is required for entry into the dance).  For the safety of the students, parents or guardians must drop off and pick up their students at the door.  No students from other schools will be admitted to the dance.

Books are gifts that keep on giving!  Get ready for those long summer days ahead by visiting the OLPH Spring Book Fair in the School Library on April 28th - 1st from 7:45 A.M. - 3:45 P.M. and on May 2nd during Grandparents' Day in the PLC.

The OLPH Creative Arts Guild will hold its final meeting of the school year on Monday, May 5th, at 6:00 P.M. at the Longhorn Restaurant on Brainerd Road.  This organization raises funds to support the art and music programs within the school, as well as supplementing student payments for art, music and drama-related field trips.  We are in great need of new officers for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year.  If you are interested in getting involved in this vital organization, please join us at this meeting and/or contact Bob McPeak at rsmamm@epbfi.com.

We are pleased to announce that the goal for collecting box tops this year was 23,660 and we collected 25,147!  That is a lot of Box Tops giving OLPH an estimate of, $2,514.70.  This year the 3rd grade class won the bowling party collecting 5,160 box tops.  Way to go!

Congratulations to Mrs. Bethune's 3rd grade families for showing the greatest community spirit by supporting the Knights of Columbus Council 6099 Fish Frys during Lent.  Her students will be enjoying a pizza party courtesy of the Knights.

Annamarie Todd, a 5th grade student at OLPH, was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.  Her family has formed a team for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes in order to raise money to help fight this disease. As a service project, the 5th grade class is helping to raise money for this cause to support Annamarie and her family.  If you wish you may send in a donation (cash or check made out to OLPH) next week or go on-line; http://www2.jdrf.org/site/TR?team id=3283 to make a contribution.  We will be collecting money for one week only.  If you are unable to make a monetary contribution, please pray for a cure.  Miracles happen!
